I'm Trying to Decide on a New All Around Rifle.
My 6.5CM Fieldcraft has become the only rifle I grab for big game. Suppressed .223 Tikka for hogs and coyotes. But I'm leaning toward the Fieldcraft for those too. It's ultra light and great ergonomics. -
The Great HT 2026 weigh in.
Steady at 175. As high as 177. 16-18% body fat. At 64 and no hormone therapy, I'll take it. Semi-active job. If I'm lifting, pushing, or pulling at work I really give it top effort. On travel I walk the full length of the airport and take stairs instead of the elevator. Only real food, no sugar...- Islander

2026 Garden
We farm about 500 acres on our hunt club. This weekend we found some volunteer purple top turnips in last year's cornfield. I'm guessing it came from some deer plot seed put out by one of our hunters. Tender!- Islander

Moving Trends for 2025
North Carolina has confusing and shit gun laws (but getting better). SC has a far better political structure, Governor checks and balances. Less regulatory friction, weaker executive power, more permissive carry laws, and more consistent, restrained courts. Nicer people. Better climate.- Islander

Tikka shooters- Mount the scope to the factory dovetail, or add a picatinny rail?
It's their current recommendation, 55 inch pounds. Not sure if they will make any future changes. It's working so far for a bunch of us. -

Torque to UM new torque spec of 55 IP and done. Nothing to do with the design or limitation of UM rings, only torque setting. Sportsmatch are slipping at 38 on some calibers. For the Tikka dovetail, you need enough (more) torque to prevent slipping. UM hardware is strong enough for that torque.
