Sorry. I dislike most people. Your not special.
Good rains this week. More due next week. Several fires burning in area.
Good luck & good hunting.
Fair enough—some folks just like to sound tough online.
Appreciate the weather and fire info. I’ll be out there regardless.
Good luck to you too...
Haha exactly! I didn’t spend $400 on boots just to ride around all day in a SxS. 😄 We saw the same thing last year—guys bugling from the trailheads like that’s all it takes. Elk are there, you just gotta work for ’em a bit.
And trust me, I’ve got a pic I’ll drop that proves a SxS definitely...
Yeah, got lucky three years running—wild, I know! 😂 And no, the tag soup wasn’t from lack of effort or animals. Just playing the selective game. Not asking how to hunt the Gila—just curious how it played out for others in 16A. Always something to learn from other folks’ experiences.
Appreciate it. It’s funny how a simple question about people’s experiences turned into a bit of a ‘you people’ kind of thing lol. Some folks were positive and helpful, others maybe didn’t fully read the post. I mentioned I’m being selective—sure, I could’ve tagged out on a cow or even a decent...
Yeah, I’ve heard that a lot too. Odds are low, no doubt. I’ve just been lucky.
As for pics—oh I’ve got plenty. But let’s be honest, that’d just be one more thing for you to hate on. 😉
Just to clarify, I’m not asking how to hunt the Gila — just interested in hearing about others’ past experiences, successful or not. And yeah, I’ve been really lucky to draw three years in a row as a resident. I’ve hunted it before and just shared some of what I saw last year in case it helps...
I’ve got the first archery season. Hunted 16A last year and had an excellent hunt, but I felt 16D had better trophy potential overall. Still excited to be back in 16A this year!
Hey! Thanks, and congrats to you too on drawing 16A! That’s awesome — it’s definitely a great unit, and I’m glad to hear you’ll be out there. I’ve got the first archery hunt, so it sounds like we’ll be in the field around the same time.
I’ve already done a bit of scouting this summer and...
Hey fellers,
Hope everyone had some success in the New Mexico draw—or at least knows someone they can tag along with this year to enjoy what we all love. By the grace of God and a bit of luck, I’ve drawn the Gila for the third year in a row. First year was 16D, second year 16A, and this year...
I’m using the Vortex Viper 15-45-65 and I couldn’t be happier with it. Down the line I would still like to upgrade to something in the Alpha glass category, but for now it gets the job done.
Went on a hunt out by silver city
🌃Truthfully the taste and smell of Javalina. I mean hunting is hunting no matter what you still have fun getting out in the sticks, but I still felt it wasn’t worth it in the end
