    I feel like there is no rhyme or reason as to when whitetail shed in Montana. I've found fresh sheds in late December and seen big bucks packing still in mid-April. Found a couple so far but most still have their headgear.

    Based on my very limited experience in Colorado, i wouldn't burn 10 points on a cow tag. Where i hunted in a general unit it was not that hard to find elk. I'd have to imagine 10 points would draw a tag where it isn't too hard to find a bull.

    I've spent an hour and a half elk hunting the past two years and have two elk to show for it. One opening day of archery and the other opening day of rifle season. Unfortunately the streak is pretty likely to end next year as I don't intend to elk hunt because of other hunt plans.
