    Youth quota, too young

Fair question, how much does he remember vs. thinks he remembers from us replaying it in conversation over and over for the past 5 years? I don't know honestly, but I can tell you that it was a joyous moment for him and my Dad (his Grandpa) and really for all of us. I am not advocating this...

    Youth quota, too young

seems Western states have dealt with this with most 10+ to apply. NM is 9 (I just applied my son this year for the first time). That being said, everyone kid is different. My nephew absolutely killed a turkey at age 4 and a pronghorn at 5. He is the exception, not the rule, my son wouldn't...

    Yellowstone Spinoff Marshals

Super cheesy, felt like a Law and Order spinoff.

The evolution of a dream shop build. Eventually with pics.

I don’t know where you are located but I’d dig a 6’ deep 4x4 pit near the center and throw in a couple rolls of 3/4” water line securely plumbed together in coils with the two ends coming up in an area that you can easily get to them and use them. Cover that in, compact and go in about your...

Spring Bear scouting walkabout - the ticks are out already....

Pulled the first one off of me (fully attached) last Saturday. Too darn early to be dealing with Ticks. Time to get the clothes permethrin'd

    Drought for the west

Just stand that bad boy back up and put a couple stakes in the ground to hold it. Seriously though, that sucks...

Got My Dall Sheep And Saved Thousands

Holy smokes I just found out you could hunt grizzlies in the 90’s!?!?!? Insane. I figured it was like 1940 or something. Learn something everyday.

Got My Dall Sheep And Saved Thousands

I can’t tell if you need to delete this to avoid cops busting down the door or if I’m just reading it wrong?

    Getting a will done

If you value your children and their relationship just make sure you have it completely spelled out. Make it your decision and don't leave it to them to fight it out.

Shoot your bear defense gun more

100% agree, I carried in southern NM this fall but that was for 2 legged threats (drug smugglers). I don't carry in CO either when I hunt there.

    NM applications

I'm just sitting over here trying to work out how I'm going to schedule both the bighorn and oryx tags that I'm going to draw this year. Got the Coues tag last year so makes sense I will draw two this year.

    Trapping Thread 2025/2026

Pulled everything last weekend.ended up with several coons and a couple coyotes. Not a single bobcat this year. I blame the ice and my lack of preparation and wax dirt. Making a bunch this summer.

    Bucket list

While a trip to Spain sounds fun those Ibex just don’t do it for me the way the Persian and Bezoar type do.

Small Bullets (.224) and BIG game

I got my 7 (now 9) YO a 300 Blackout in the new Ruger Gen 2 (which has a piece you can remove to make the stock shorter). With a can it is crazy quiet. He hasn't shot a deer with it yet since he used a crossbow this year, but I would have no problem putting him on one out to 80-100 yds. with...

Shoot your bear defense gun more

Wife and I shot some yesterday. Shot pretty good but without something running at me at full speed. I did decide that I believe the noise would be a significant deterrent. Also, the placebo effect is real in making me generally feel safer.

Gear for Disabled Hunters - Extracting and processing big game

Warn makes a drill winch that is reasonably priced and will help you pull that deer wherever you need it. Powered by the cordless drill you likely already have.
