    Rear locker decisions..

Im in the foothills and my test drive is taking it up i70 into the mountains. I didn’t notice anything concerning, but maybe that’s not the best diagnostic test? Maybe slight grade at 75 would be more telling?

Well turns out 2015-2017 has reported issues as well. Pretty much everyone has transmission issues idk what to do here

    Rear locker decisions..

I’ve been doing a ton of research and you’re the only one I’ve ever heard comment on transmission issues with the 6speed. The 10speed in 2018 was problematic and also had oil consumption issues

    Rear locker decisions..

thanks for all the helpful discussion - I’m leaning towards off-road package with e-locker and upgrade suspension/armor. If I don’t like the e-locker, I’ll at least have that knowledge then.

    Rear locker decisions..

I’ve made that drive many times. It made me develop a deep hatred for Kansas. Very cool plan though

    Rear locker decisions..

Helpful data, thanks for sharing. Doing the install aftermarket feels like it’s not going to make sense. I also hear winch upgrades take precedent anyway

    Rear locker decisions..

Very brave buying from Ohio, as an Ohioan I tend to shop warmer, salt-free climates. How has the frame held up to rust?

    Rear locker decisions..

Looking for some specific guidance as I circle the drain on a new (to me) pickup. Planning to get ahold of a 2015-17 f150 with the 5.0 coyote and make it a solid hunting rig. I’ve got the two options available: 1. Buy the off-road package with an e-locker on the rear 2. Buy the base with 4x4...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

...but if it is broke, I wanna hear about it. I'm wondering if the HT community could help me out. I'm a metallurgist and my area of expertise is failure analysis. I help folks understand why metal stuff breaks (and sometimes, what to do about it). I'm trying to build up some "case studies" to...

I was looking at the FKTs on the incline recently, and since that was brought up here, I thought I'd share.. https://fastestknowntime.com/route/manitou-incline-co I guess 16:42 is the alleged fastest ascent but it's struck for suspected doping. 17:16 is the next fastest. The thing that kills...

    Any interest from wood turners?

I’ll weigh it tomorrow and get an estimate. Tell him an Ohio State themed pen would be wonderful

    Any interest from wood turners?

I used to do a fair bit of work on a wood lathe, but after moving and losing access to a spot for a work shop, I’m offloading the last bit of wood I have to free up some garage space. I’m not sure what to price this at or request in return, so I would leave that open to the recipient. I’m...

Updated the original post to include the two weight classes of #20 and #60, I think that's a good setup. I'm excited to see how things shake out!

I feel like we should pick a standard pack weight or maybe two: a heavy and a light weight and then have people target that weight, maybe?
