Coming from some of the oldest ranching families in the western U.S. I resent this comment. Many a 4th crop hay is left in tge field for wildlife, troughs fixed so wild critters have water while dumb cows trump (tromp, misstyped but appropriate) springs, layed down fence in a snowstorm so deer... -

That is a VERY fair point. Given new "archery" equipment I can see that viewpoint. I hunt with a 15 year old compound or a recurve I built myself. My view is sitting on a water through for 5 days in wait might be behind the tech. If I twitch, draw, or smell at all those antelope wander off from... -

It would in 2 of the areas I hunt Antelope. It's so dry every single spring is tapped for troughs or made into a pond. Which is fine. Instead of a mud hole it's better for wildlife to use. But blocking it off to hunters would kill hunting those areas. Cattle troughs are not only better for... -

House bill 677 appears to make it illegal to place a blind near water troughs on public property. This would kill archery antelope hunting. I've called Jerald to get some reason why he proposed this. I'll update if he calls back. -

Tricks to prevent horn shrinkage
Not to totally resurrect this thread from the dead but, I have some data that might be useful. The first 2 antelope killed around me were my wife's and daughters. Both did well green score and both shrank a surprising amount by scoring day... which is why this thread has always kind of been in... -

Soooo... one of the boots I referenced in the "best my feet felt was barefoot tossing them in the trash..." was a pair of White's. Second pair was Hawthorns which is their secondary brand. Both were probably the best made pair of high quality boots that ate my feet alive. They are damn high...- Firedude

Ah... the JNCO jeans and unlaced shoes... I welded so many a truck together in shop and added 1/8 bar to the bottom of the truck for you guys to grind on rails... almost got in trouble until my shop teacher pointed out I also re-welded the rails...- Firedude

Yes. Mostly worn out. But I was willing to try at yard sale price. Lysol and waited a few minutes. As you can see my pinky toe is already curved under. But they still kind of hurt.- Firedude

Crispi was my next try. I found a pair at a yard sale by miracle in my size that I walked around in for a bit. Still bit my pinky toe but the rest felt ok. Cripsi is probably my next try unless otherwise persuaded.- Firedude

The reason I'm asking is I've tried a lot of brands... they all happily say, "oh our boots will be the best ever! Just try them! Full return!'' I buy and wear for 3 months. Good break in period. Still hurt or blown out. "Well it's beyond our warranty period...."- Firedude

There are plenty of really good boot makers out there. But everyone's foot is different. The few times I've spent lots on "high end" boots, the best my feet felt was the day I walked barefoot to tossed those overpriced things in the garbage can. Do you use a scope with target turrets?
There's a very simple test that I've seen a lot of guys lose faith in very nice scopes with. Crank that thing all the way to one side. Then up. Then over to the other side. All the way down and repeat. Go around that square 10 times. Reset to zero and shoot. When it's sub zero and I'm shooting...- Firedude

Do you use a scope with target turrets?
You guys NEED (as in absolutely have to have or cant do it) adjustable turret at 300? That being the case I get it now. If you can't push 2 to 6 inches high and an inch over the suggested rules make complete sense now.- Firedude
