    Elk .... Let's see them!!!

Glassed him bedding 3/4 of a mile across a canyon. Took a while to get over to him, but finally caught him bedded in the timber pocket we saw him go into. My son's first bull!

Challenging to find staff who have hunting experience. Is hunting declining in interest.

I'm in Mechanical Engineering. I think across the country in general hunting is in decline, but I haven't seen that here in Wyoming.

I'm a bit surprised. As the department head in one of the engineering departments at UW I can say that within our faculty, easily more than half hunt and within the students in the department I would guess it's higher than that (at least among the guys). I'm not sure what fields you're looking...

    2025 Wyoming Moose

Got out for my only archery weekend with my middle son (13-yr old). Got camp set up on Friday evening in a beautiful draw. The plan was to try my hand at calling. On Saturday morning we made our way up the draw a mile or so and set up to call. After calling for an hour or so, we heard antler...

    Upcoming AK Caribou hunt

I bought a more compact tripod to shave weight, but I was glad I brought the spotter. Plus it was nice for digiscoping.

    Upcoming AK Caribou hunt

Agree 100%. Good call on the waders... they're an absolute must. I used NEOS waders and that worked pretty well.

    Upcoming AK Caribou hunt

I'm no expert, but I did a DIY fly-in caribou hunt on the north slope in early-mid August of 2017. Here are my thoughts. 1) The bugs were awful. The only time I had exposed skin was when we were taking pictures. I would definitely have something to keep the bugs out of your tent. 2) We just...

    Scouting For September Mule Deer

Your questions are pretty broad. I don't know if the does well be there in two months, but it wouldn't surprise me. On my property, I've been watching a couple does with their newborn fawns. They're typically in about the same place in September too. In my experience, bucks will hold to their...

    2025 Wyoming Moose

2-night camping trip with my 3 boys on Cliff Creek. Did a bit of hiking and some more driving around... mostly the boys were enamored with axe throwing. Saw quite a few deer and quite a bit of old moose sign, but no moose on this trip. The wildflowers were beautiful though!

    2025 Wyoming Moose

We did more driving today -- no rain but was colder and windy. We saw lots of deer and sandhill cranes again, but this time we saw 11 bull elk, a cow elk and its newborn calf, and one bull moose in my hunting area! Overall a great day of learning the area.

    2025 Wyoming Moose

The first day out was very wet between the rain and snowmelt -- couldn't drive on all the roads I was hoping to. But we saw lots of deer and a couple grouse (they really blend in!). I really like the looks of the area. We have a few more places to check out tomorrow. We ran into a few bear...

    2025 Wyoming Moose

I'm heading up to west of Bondurant this weekend to start familiarizing myself with my moose hunting area (Area 10). Was hoping to hike, but the weather may just permit driving FS roads this trip. If anyone has any suggestions for areas to focus on, I would appreciate any intel you might have...
