Have done that I think 3 times in the last 5 years now. They’ve been fun. Always had a good one day hunt and never seen another hunter. If I get a damage hunt that’s usually the 3rd elk for the year.
I agree. That is more silly.
Lots of other options to address that though. I honestly don’t care either way, was just curious. Some people make killing elk way harder than it is.
Haven’t read this whole thing and don’t overly care much one way or another if this passes or not. Cows are easy enough to kill on public land in MT if you really want one.
Question…..and apologies if this has been answered. Say you drew a Gardiner cow tag. Shoot a bull on public in archery...
Is 8 days ago recent enough for you?
Looks like an overgrazed wasteland to me.
I would tend to think that the rancher you are arguing with knows just a bit about grazing.
Carry on…
I dropped my pack once in tall sage. Snuck in and shot a bull. It literally took me several hours to find my pack again. Sweating bullets for sure as Schamlts said. Never again.
Hope they find these guys.
I saw this photo in Red Rock Sporting Goods in Miles City probably 20+ years ago. Still probably my favorite mule deer photo of all time. The deer, the classic country...all of it.
I’ve done that route a couple of times. Definitely doable. I’ve even done the whole thing in a day. Started at Mill Creek and came out Wallace to Palisades. Wouldn’t recommend that.
