$48 for an antelope doe tag is joke. If there were leftover tags and an abundance of antelope I think that'd be a fair deal. But it doesn't seem so fair for the antelope at the moment.
Looks like my days of drawing multiple antelope tags are gone. Haven't been successful in drawing doe tags last few years. Probably be doing day hunts and hunting solo this year unless I find someone to tag along. Buying deer tag OTC and mulies I am seeing mostly in the AM and after dinner.
The best wild game steak I’ve ever made for myself was the tenderloin from a NM doe antelope. I did get the hide off it and the meat on ice as soon as possible. Delicious.
A few people have seen him and said, "Well, knowing he doesn't make books would you still shoot him."
"Bang." "Bang a thousand times over."
I own what my friends call the greatest collection of almost... ALMOST BOOK.
I wouldn't hesitate on any of those hunts to do the same thing. If I'm in...
Buddy Holly energized a sleepy America. His songs and guitar playing went from 0 to 60 in a heartbeat! Gas was 19 cents/gallon and muscle cars were born then. Vrooom Vrooom !
Below is a link to his huge 1957 hit “Peggy Sue”! Such an explosion of energy. The musicians are in a race. The...
Arizona:
Elk, antelope
Colorado:
Antelope point, try to snag a doe tag on a second choice.
Deer point, try to snag a rifle tag on a second choice.
Elk point, try to snag an limited entry archery tag on a second choice. Failing that, probably OTC rifle.
M/MG/S points
Kansas:
Deer point, drew...
Just checked the regs and there are 50 lousy type 6 doe-fawn tags for all of WY area 29 and 300 type 2 tags. Never thought I'd live to see the day when you might need a preference point to draw a tag in area 29. Struck out on the type 6 last year. $1200 for a nonresident special antelope, YIKES...
Honestly, it is a little hit and miss. My wife usually draws a tag and I get her on doe's most of the time. The problem is, I think CPW is letting out more and more tags every year. This year in particular, I felt like there was a ton more hunters. I ended up looking up the draw stats and...
i drew a montana antelope tag this fall and was considering trying to stop in wyoming on a leftover whitetail doe tag coming home. unit 17 and 18 have quite a few leftover. yes, i know limited access is the reason such tags are normally leftover. im more familiar witht the tags in the black...
You can get up to 2 doe tags in the initial draw then pick up 2 more in the leftover draw if available.
Antelope numbers are way down that is why folks are saying to not use your doe tags.
Look into a reduced price cow elk tag for more meat on your trip.
Shooting 5 antelope isn't that difficult getting 4 doe tags is. There is a random draw for doe antelope tags and the odds for any unit with good access is low. Only the tags not snagged in the draw will go to a leftover list where they can be bought. Any tag that can be purchased on the leftover...
WY antelope doe tags are probably harder to draw than the buck tag now days. Like said above if it's a leftover it's probably private land only or extremely limited public.
It also coincides with when the R3 movement really started to gain momentum. Doe antelope were promoted as the cheap and easy way to get introduced to western hunting.
NM - D, E, A, Oryx and Javelina already bagged and tagged.
WY - Draw for cow elk and doe antelope
I hope I get an elk tag in WY and NM but odds are against me. I may only have enough vacation for 1 hunt though. If I get skunked I will head to CO for OTC
Doe antelope have saved a handful of my hunting seasons from the meatless category. After 22/23 winter, I don't see that hunt happening in the near future, at least where I used to hunt them. Trying to tag out on 5 antelope sounds pretty exhausting. I'd just focus on the Type 1 tag.
So I'm a bit confused by this. This year will be my first year hunting antelope. However, if WY game and fish (the agency tasked with managing the antelope population) believe that there are enough antelope to issue doe/fawn tags why would that make the situation worse?
Part 1.3 - Wyoming
Day 4
We got out a little earlier on day 4 than we had on the previous day. Our goal for the day was to find the group of 17 antelope that we were on as light faded the day before. It took a little while, but I finally located them about 3 miles away from where they had been...
I'm in for Nevada
Bull and cow elk
Buck and doe antelope
Deer.
All I'll apply for.
12 points for Bull, so I'm hoping that should do it for a muzzle loader tag. I debated on applying for elk with my health, but went for it. And my wife didn't accuse me of being crazy for wanting to do it.
CO is pretty tough for antelope. Most are on the eastern side of the state which is pretty much all private. There are some decent opportunities, but it takes a little research. Cross reference the draw report with units that have some public access. Likely easier to get a rifle mule deer tag...
