There is a small herd in that area, but it is very difficult to figure out where they will be at any given time. The bigger herd in the Applegate unit is in the Grayback area but I have no clue where to find them his time of year, The Applegate unit is probably the worst unit in western Oregon to hunt elk in. Also, it is a coastal unit, not a Cascade unit so it isn't open now.
