No AZ elk draw but getting closer
Just found out AZ deer draw open online. The area I am looking at has some great mule deer. Then if that don’t work can get a Coues bow tag on left overs. Going to be out running bear and lion so might as well make it a full trip.- Thumper007

Look folks was not trying to start a shooting war. I guess the first statement of AZ having landowner tags to catch attention is where folks stopped reading. Keep putting for the Kanab. Just saw they opened for the deer draw. Since Cuz is outfitting Lion and Bear figure might as well put a trip together. He is tight with a long time outfitter and that is who I am taking on the gator hunt. His son loves swamp people so I have 4 tags in the refuge area...- Thumper007

That is exactly what I was figuring on the topic as a whole. I know the opening I wish AZ would offer land owner tags would grab attention. I wish AZ would offer land owner tags, but then again, if they did it would be sorta like Colorado and only people willing to pay the big money for the tags could afford them and hurt the draw. On the other hand I have did well on several of the less expensive Colorado land owner tags. But truth...- Thumper007

Looks like my New Mexico mule deer will be ready
Well folks my taxidermist sent me a picture of my 2018 NM mule deer and said will be ready before I get home. They are waiting to finish out and paint. This was my second to break 200 and officially scored 214 and change. Now I got to break 220 on a buck and 365 on an elk. No joy on the AZ...- Thumper007

Suggestions for a new pack
Thanks folks I went with the Metcalf subalpine rifle carry. Going to test it to see if I even need a frame. Going by the ratings and the size suggestions it looks like a winner. Thanks- Thumper007

I like Hopedale but they have a total different group over that way. Different charter outfits generally keep our areas and routines. But we have more folks from that part coming over our way. Generally you can spit them as they are the boats running from spit to spit trying to figure it out...- Thumper007

Things really improved. Actually I bought my lot after katrina and set up a modular for camp the went in half on the dock rebuild to get 5 of the slips. I guess the number of guides have tripled since then. Not digging anyone but a few of the guides or claim to call themselves guides run under...- Thumper007

I stay out the lake normally I am hitting the SW side of the Marsh and Brenton sound. Since they closed off the MRGO, build the surge wall from Chalmett to I 10 and keep opening the spillway Ponchartrain will eventually turn back to fresh water and you will not see a trout west of the 10 bridge- Thumper007

Sure beats a soft top with a wood stove and shower outside from water heated in a lister bag😱. I don’t mind living in a drop camp, when getting back in or up high but it is nice to come in get in a shower, eat a meal and have a bed. My fish camp spoiled me a bit. I know we are a hunting forum and outside of fishing or running charters I would rather be hunting.
