This is one thing I don't think people are quite understanding. Say for example 4% chance of drawing, which some have said is not possible (it is, I had exactly a 4.0% chance of drawing a Moose tag this year but did not draw). 4% is not a high percent. That equates to if I have a 4% chance of...
Starting to realize the battle I am fighting here.
Overall probability of drawing a moose tag in 2025 was 0.69% among all applicants. This is found by taking the number of applicants (33274) and dividing it by successes (231). This isn't theory, this is what actually happened in the draw...
That is probably true, I haven't looked at the numbers. But the reason for that isn't the method (Bonus Points), it's the other things pointed out (less tags, more people). My point is about the bonus points not working. They certainly work as intended.
I'm a big fan of the pay up front, I...
Some of you really seem to struggle with math. Here is a spreadsheet that might help clear a few things up on the bonus points. It certainly helps your draw odds to have more points and even better at max. I took all the Moose districts in Montana and combined all the drawing by points. I...
I have one of these tools. They work great, however I no longer use it. If you have an underground sprinkler system and your piping system isn't deep enough in the spot you use it, this tool will puncture holes in it. I did it twice and decided it wasn't worth it anymore.
I have a raft but it is used for fishing trips, not white water rafting trips, so it depends on what kind of rafting and questions you have. Willing to help if I can though. We have done many weeklong floats in it, but not on whitewater, fishing trips.

Pretty sure I know where most folks on here stand on this but an interesting read to get the general public's outlook. Looks like the data is Montana specific.
My parents have a bunch of apple trees in their yard and the deer are constantly in there eating, especially once the apples start to drop. They will hang out there all day. When they start eating the apples their poop is no longer pellets and is just diarrhea that you describe and show. My...
If it's not against the law it should definitely should be.
I don't have any proof like a picture or anything though. I heard it was happening from another local and then saw a guy with his drone one night when we were driving out.
I know of an outfitter that is taking drones with infrared thermal cameras on them in the woods at night to locate the animals. They are getting around the law of saying they aren't "flying" by doing this before midnight so that they can go out the next day. Then the next morning before light...
Geez, that picture of it as it lays after you shot it is weird. I had to study it a while to figure out what I was looking at. It looked like there were 2 bucks, one behind the other. There is a sagebrush stick right over the stomach of the deer that looks like another one and the shading on...
I 2nd the Reddington rods. They are quality and the price isn't too bad. I have several of them and have used the lifetime warranty many times.
That said for a first rod to decide if somebody really likes it, I wouldn't hesitate to go with this...
As others have mentioned you will know it when you see a big one. I spotted mine last year from about 2 miles away and I knew instantly that it was one to go after.
Not sure if anybody mentioned Meopta. I got tired of reading through the posturing and BS so didn't finish all the comments.
I bought a pair of Meopta Optika HD and am very happy with them. They are a quality glass without the huge price tag. Meopta of course have different levels.
Does...
