This "CPW is in wolf denial" argument cracks me up. Although nobody has proven there are any packs with a home range in the state, the presence of wolves in Colorado over the last decade is pretty well documented.
Here's a video taken by a CPW employee in 2007 of a probable wolf on the CPW...
I was there in 2012 and 2011. 2011 was a lot better. In 2012 I covered twice the ground and spent twice the time but only saw half the animals.I ran into the area biologist last year and he thought that the herd was down at least 1/3 and that horn growth was hampered by poor range conditions...
But in a short action. Thought I'd throw it out there since you were considering the Roberts. I think if I were buying a factory gun I'd go with the Wby too.
Similar story here: no .25 Cals and reload my own. Have you thought about a custom build in .25 Souper? It doesn't necessarily have the HP of the Weatherby but it's pretty cool in its own right.
This pic is of a good friend packing his first buck out. He had been hunting hard for a couple of years without much opportunity, so to finally fill a tag, pack out, and get to see a spectacular sunset from 11,000 ft was a pretty intense experience.
You might start her with dove loads at the range. When it comes time to hunt let her use the real thing without saying anything. It's a dirty trick, but she won't notice when she's actually shooting a tom and it's better than having her miss because she got recoil shy. I really hate shooting...
Fine, I'll break the trend with my unrefined palate ... I don't like the taste of deer very much, so venison steak gets ketchup or a dollop of Sweet Baby Ray's almost every time. In fact, there's a bottle reaching room temperature on the counter right now in anticipation of the deer loin chops...
I've taken several trophy pics, but none I like as much as this one! My wife is still laughing. Wait till she finds out I made it our desktop background!
Thanks for letting me tag along, and apparently also for not making me wear high heels or use a metric rangefinder!
