    I’d look for a rifle that fits the best. Most gunsmiths can thread the barrel and install a break for ~$200 in my area at least.

    I think a 70+ buck would be a good goal for your next trip out and would be attainable in about any area with some time behind the glass.

    If you can get points to draw 62-1 it would be worth the wait over hunting 63-1. But if you’re set on hunting this fall, 63-1 over 62-2 for sure.

    Deer rifles for young hunters

    .243 or 7mm-08 would be my pick. The 7mm can stabilize a heavier projectile just in case they ever take it on a hunt for a bit larger game. 7mm-08 has been easier to find lately than and of the other calibers mentioned, in my area at least.
