    Colorado state trust land access

Funny timing. I have a permit for temporary access into the State Land Trust right now. I want to access a really small piece of land (not for hunting) for about 45 minutes. My application for this access has been with them for about two weeks now and I've yet to hear anything. When I talked...

    Leadville, Co. suggestions

Most of the established campgrounds in the area will be booked solid. There are a couple that save a few sites for first come first serve. You'd need to be there Thursday or EARLY Friday to get one. Otherwise you're basically camping anywhere you can pull a vehicle off a forest road or him...

Colorado National Forest and BLM Mountain Bike Regulations

One easy rule is no mountain bikes in Wilderness areas. Each ranger district should have their specific rules (certain areas closed at certain times) on their individual website.

    CO Pt Creep Madness !!!

There are other ways to do it as well. My nephew has 20ish points for elk and still hunts every year here in Colorado. His first choice every year is a "trophy" unit, but we usually hunt OTC. Just because people have alot of points built up doesn't mean they are waiting 20 years to hunt.

    30-30 levergun in the West?

Having just had a really tough hunt here in Colorado, I can tell you they are useful. It was incredibly warm second season this year. So warm that there was no way the elk were coming out of the thick timber. At a certain point we had to go in after them. The only thing that made sense was...

    Alberta big horn

I'll echo the coloration comments on the ram but more importantly....I LOVE that your rifle is not a museum piece. Looks like it gets alot of work and those are the best firearms out there... Jim

    College or pro?

College for me! I watch ALOT of college football every Saturday, but I live and die with the Irish every year...This year I'm missing the ND/FSU game for my 2nd Rifle season...oh well...I can watch a replay with elk steaks and that will make up for it.

    Sportsman's Pledge (Public Lands)

I hear you John. I have friends who can't believe when they have to pay $4.00 at a popular trailhead, but if they could vote tomorrow to end hunting they would! I'm trying to show them how many dollars from hunters save "their" favorite places. Jim

    Elk topics and tactics

John, WOW!! Amazing kindness. Kindness that deserves elk meat! Weekends will be easiest for me after missing a week to hunt. If I keep it frozen/on ice for a week will that still be ok? EDIT----Sorry to hijack Bowhunter's thread. You can PM me or e-mail me: [email protected]

    Elk topics and tactics

That would be easy for me! My in-laws are in Co Spgs and I'm there pretty regularly. I would LOVE to be able to help you butcher, or not get in the way...your preference...but hands-on is the best teacher.
