Hunting Gear Thats Punches Above its Pricepoint

I've been pretty impressed with the quilts made by Cedar Ridge Outdoors. Their prices tend to be a bit less expensive than comparable others, the temp rating is a comfort rating (not a lower limit rating), and their size regular width is most other companies' size wide (which those companies...

Podcast Episodes on Public-Private Property Rights at Intersecting Corners

Thanks for putting an insightful series on this issue. I'm looking forward to the third podcast. Have you and Mr. Stonecipher and Mr. Vandenbos looked at Hill v. Warsewa et al.? It is a similar case regarding public access and property rights, but focused on stream access in Colorado. The...

    Sling Shot Grouse?

I know this is an old thread, but it seems like not many people responded that do use a sling shot. So, I'll just add myself to the list that do. I bring mine along during archery elk/deer seasons here in Colorado. That's when the grouse season is anyways. I find that aiming with a slingshot...

Thoughts on using a military surplus ruck sack as a first pack until I can save up for a high quality/value pack for Western Big Game hunting?

Like most have said already, it'll work. However, I would add to keep it to above freezing temperatures hunts. Those newer frames (read: plastic composite) have a tendency to break in the cold. You should generally be alright, but it is a possibility you should be aware. Additionally, there...

    Online WFA course?

Yah, I hear ya. That makes sense since NOLS is headquartered in Landers, WY. You could even travel internationally if you wanted for a WFA or WFR. They're held all over the world.

    Online WFA course?

I would add that you might be something out there, but it's not going to be Wilderness Medicine Institute certified. There's even a quality difference between a course directly from NOLS WMI and a WMI-certified course. I would recommend always trying to get the NOLS WMI course.

    Online WFA course?

Hope you found something before your hunt, and that you had a good hunt. I don't think there will ever be a fully online WFA. There needs to be hands-on experience for some of the components, such as CPR. There are hybrid courses now, even for WFR, where a portion is online.

    Dust elimination in truck topper

I know it's been a few months. But, were you talking about these? https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Vents-and-Fans/Redline/HMAV2-AVT2.html Looks like they come in black or white.

    Not new, but new

Hi all, I've been a member (or was a member) for several years now. But, I can't seem to find any of my old posts. I think there may have been a reset awhile back where my account was deleted for inactivity (I go long periods between logins). So anyway, I'll just reintroduce myself. I'm out...

Selfishness and Hunting, Meet Matt Rinella and Tag Allocations

I wouldn't necessarily call that person selfish. That would mean that all aspects of that person's attitude and behavior are selfish, which is clearly not the case from the example information. But rather, that one attitude on that one subject might be. Personally, I would ask more questions...

    Looking for a hack

If you have silicone or seam sealer lying around, you could brush some on the grippers.

Liners for Floor less shelters. What are your thoughts?

Also, I think Seek Outside put out a youtube video a couple months ago about condensation management.

Liners for Floor less shelters. What are your thoughts?

From my experience, it's really only there as a barrier to help minimize the amount of condensation that will either drip onto you and your gear or get on you when you brush against the inside of the tent. I find it helpful in that regard. For managing condensation, that's more of site...
