Hey All. I somehow drew a muzzie tag for deer in 171-173. I won't have a ton of time to hunt (maybe 4 days) because it overlaps with a NM elk hunt and my LE UT antelope hunt. But, I'm not going to not hunt a deer tag in NV! I've not hunted NV before. I know a lot of guys spend time on the east...
Yeah. That's not happening. :ROFLMAO: I know there are good deer in there. And I'm not someone who will hold out for the monster. I was just saying that I know there are more highly coveted tags. I'm excited!
Well, I somehow drew muzzie deer. This is by far the busiest year I have ever had hunting wise. Wasn't sure how to make it work because it overlaps a couple other hunts, but got it worked out calendar wise. I will be in 171-173. I know it's not the most desired deer unit(s), but I'm just super...
These pics were taken in a neighborhood in the SE Salt Lake County. There have been no confirmed cases of EHD in any deer herd within this area.
I agree. I've seen a few strange velvet bucks, but these were unreal. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Especially in May! The length of the spike was insane, and I don't even know how many points the other buck had on that head.
For what you are personally talking about with where you hunt and what you hunt, I would definitely lean .308. You have so many options of rifles and rifle setups, along with some of the cheapest rifle ammo you will find. For me, I would probably lean toward the .270, but I hunt out west and...
Thanks for posting. I will be out that way in September for the muzzie hunt. It will be my first time in Nevada. I have a crazy Fall with a number of tags that were not expected that came through so there won't be any on the ground scouting happening prior to the hunt, but I'm really excited...
I got a group I'm happy with in the 7mm mag. I got a load that shot right at 0.5" with it. I didn't actually make it to 7mm-08 yet with the TGK. I'm working up a load of 120 gr ttsx for the 7mm-08 for pronghorn this year and then will work up the 140 gr after. I got the 120 gr ttsx down to 0.4"...
I'm headed out in the morning to do some load development with them in both 7mm mag and 7mm-08 in the 140 gr. I'm hopeful they shoot as good as I have read they do.
It's a fantastic round. Has a lot of fans here on HT. My savage in 7mm-08 has taken a pile of animals (hogs, WT deer, mule deer, cow and bull elk). With the right bullet it's more than capable. We've taken animals from 67 yds to 430 yds with it.
