Montana \ Wyoming Archery Guide Recomendations

Two years ago, a good friend and I did a DIY hunt in Montana. It was a great experience, however one big lesson we learned was that despite all the research we did on elk ecology and the unit we were hunting, the mountains in Montana are nothing like our home hunting grounds of Ontario Canada...

    Franchi Affinty experiences ?

I have had one for a few years, and I love it. The action is very smooth on it, and the fact that it comes with a shim kit to customize the fit was a big plus for me. I have used mine for upland birds, turkey and waterfowl. Given the price point, and the fact that its basically Beretta...

New home - What would you do?

Vent hood in the garage. Nice for winter BBQ, smoker and even just to move some air around while working in there.

We brought the Bayou to Saskatchewan

Awesome winter treat. We usually do a boil every summer here is Ontario. Turned into a mid summer tradition with my east coast friends. Sure is an awesome treat for the kids too.

Arrow Spine Selection and Tuning Help

Just to follow up, in the end, it was a shaft issue. I was able to get the 340 shaft arrows to tune perfectly, then shoot a 400 with a lighter insert and get the same bullet hole result. Thanks for all the help and input.

Arrow Spine Selection and Tuning Help

Thanks, Follow up question for you. If my lighter arrows are shooting bullet holes, and I tune for the heavier arrows, will it not then be out of tune for the lighter arrow?? I though that if the arrow was leaving the bow square and true, then all arrows should do the same regardless of...

Arrow Spine Selection and Tuning Help

Hello all, I have had a couple of very successfull years and have taken the leap into archery. Back in Octover I purchased a new bow and through Octover to January was able to get some instruction and lessons on how to shoot properly. I shoot about 20 shots every day and have been able to...

Hornady ELX - No Good for Hunting Elk???

Thanks all, I really appreciate the perspective and observations. I guess I am going to have to try some Barnes TTSX or Hammer Hunter bullets and see how they perform. There is a black bear hunt in my plans for this spring, we will have to see how the ELDX does on a Bear. Thanks again.

Hornady ELX - No Good for Hunting Elk???

Hi All, Last year I developed a great load with some heavy ELDX bullets for my Browning x-bolt in 30-06. They were tack drivers and shot great and outperformed the same weight Nosler Accubonds. My original intention was to use these bullets on Elk. This fall I was able to harvest two deer...

Non-resident outfitter license (MT) Bill is up for hearing 2/2/2021 (SB 143)

A Canadian Perspective..... Many Canadian provinces have this approach to outfitter dominance. Non residents need to use a guide in many cases, percentages of tags are allocated to outfitters to issue to their guests, etc. Here are the problems this has created. - The requirement to use...

2021 Plans - Dead in the Water

At this time, even if you come to the border with a negative test, and you are vaccinated, you still have to quarantine for 14 days. The border officials also follow up. They ask what your quarantine plan is when you cross so you have to have a solid plan. I suspect that you folks I. The US...

2021 Plans - Dead in the Water

Hi All, Looks like my 2021 plans are dead in the water. Unfortunately you folks south of the border have followed pace with new travel requirements here in Canada. All travelers entering Canada, and now the US, have to have a negative COVID test before boarding the plane, and then still...

    Gun powders

Bulk purchases...... The good thing about social freedom, it that we all have the freedom to go into a store and by a stock pile of a single powder to take home and look at gloriously as it sits on the shelf, likely not to be used fully for a decade. Just remember that our social freedoms come...
