Guide recommendations for MT spring bear (not full blown outfitter hunt)?

I'm attending a wedding in May of next year in Missoula, hoping to get some bear hunting in while I'm out there. Other than having a bear tag in my pocket while hunting mulies in CO, I've never done any Western bear hunting, and was considering hiring a guide to increase our odds. Anyone have...

Thanks for the advice on the Sign Cross! Pulled the trigger on one today. Lightweight 16" rifle with a threaded barrel, comes in Cipher too so it can match my jacket/pants (if I find a matching purse I'll be set)!

Recommendations for short-barreled rifle (16-18") with threaded muzzle?

Not gonna clog the thread by replying to everyone but thank you all for the great suggestions! I'm looking up all of these, some good options I didn't know where out there!

Recommendations for short-barreled rifle (16-18") with threaded muzzle?

The Cross looks interesting. Definitely not the aesthetic of a traditional hunting rifle, but the folding stock could actually be really nice for pack-ins. Have you used one? Any disadvantages to the PRS style stock?

Recommendations for short-barreled rifle (16-18") with threaded muzzle?

Yeah, that's a good point. Got recommendations on reputable guys to do the job? Always worries me a little having work like that done (mainly concentricity of the threads)

Recommendations for short-barreled rifle (16-18") with threaded muzzle?

Looking to pick up a new hunting rifle. I typically hunt suppressed, so looking for something with a shorter barrel (16-18") that's threaded. I'm not finding much that's <20" and the options that I do find typically don't have a threaded muzzle. I'm doing mostly whitetails in the east, with a...

Day 6 (where it gets fun): Both buck tags filled, my buddy and I decide to enjoy our hotel's full service breakfast. We're midway through french toast and bacon when a server walks up to us, looking sheepishly at our camo and says in somewhat broken English, "It's weird how much meat there is...

Day 5: Not much to tell from my standpoint. I had a grad school interview in the early afternoon, hadn't prepped as much as I should so I stayed in the hotel room after breakfast to get ready. My buddy was planning on scouting out a new area from the truck, we were both a little tired from the...

Day 4: Frigid night, sub zero weather in the morning, our 20 degree bags did not suffice. We had a small propane heater but limited propane so we'd periodically turn it on to warm up then turn it off again to conserve fuel throughout the night. Our morale was pretty low in the morning, neither...

Day 3: Not a very restful night, fearful of the projected 12+ inches of snow, I was up almost every hour knocking the walls of the tipi to keep the snow off. When morning finally came we were pleasantly surprised to only find find maybe 6-8" of snow. My buddy and I planned to set up at dawn...

2nd Rifle Day 2: After talking the evening before, we decided we really needed to find a few good vantage points for glassing. We set up at different points along the ridge that dropped down in to the river valley we'd glassed yesterday. Neither of us saw anything in the morning - the fields...

2nd rifle season day 1: My buddy didn't get into DIA until late on Friday, so we decided get some good sleep and forego being in the unit at first light. Turned out to be a good decision as we were able to drive in and get a feel for the lay of the land in daylight. Driving up to the wilderness...
