I agree with your son!!! Any 5 point or better, don't ruin the hunt with to much pressure!! He has many years of hunting ahead or him... Hopefully he will luck out and the first good bull will be a monster... My first elk was a 380" bull that I didn't truly appreciate until I was much older...
My bull is just over 62" wide, so that was the way I went... Nobody even has a clue that it comes apart... Wouldn't do it any other way! I think he used a bondo type of substance to hold the stock and square tubing in place...
Yes, mostly hunt in 68 though... It has definitely changed in the last few years, due to the wolves!!! Elk are scattered, trying to stay away from them... The wolves are running out of moose to harass...
