.300 WSM 180 grain Bindstrikes did the trick for me. Bear at 190 and moose at 340. Dropped the bear in its tracks and the moose went 15 yards and tipped over.
With over a million acres of public land in Kentucky and 3 million plus deer why the hell would anybody pay for an outfitted whitetail hunt in Kentucky?
I have had 2 Kentucky elk tags and have killed zero elk. Little public land and lots and lots of outfitters. So if there is private with elk on it chances are its leased. That being said your odds if you pay an outfitter are great. Without I'm going to say 10% or less. Its doable buts its not...
It really depends on how hot the fire got. If it was screaming hot and killed off all the root systems in the ground it might be like walking on moon dust for a few years. There are a whole bunch of variables in your question to have the perfect answer. Best bet is to call the area biologist and...
I packed way in just about every day trying to find something. I saw a ton of old sign in a few places but nothing fresh. It was so damn dry when I was there I had a hard time finding water. then when I did find some water there was no sign of elk anywhere. Kind of left me scratching my head.
Still had a good time! Fished the bighorn my last day there and had a blast. Got some good hiking in too! I will say if you got enough points for a deer or antelope tag I would highly recommend it.
Well 47 was a bust! I had a rancher that I was going to pay a trespass fee to get on his property and when I got there he wouldn't answer his damn phone. So I hunted the south side of the copper mountains and never saw an elk.
They definitely hit the deep bottoms. I never saw any go to water on top on the reclaimed stuff. And those governors tags are some b.s. And the guides operating in KY are some characters too.
Last year they were still rutting pretty hard in the middle of October. they were not however responding to calls at all. they definitely didn't want to leave their cows. best bet is find them put them to bed and setup for the evening ambush. in the middle of the day find the closest water hole...
They were pretty hard too find on the public land. I found a bunch on private and couldn't get permission. I did find some though. They act like elk from anywhere else get away from the roads in the nasty spot that are hard to get too. Glass the hilltops of the reclaimed strip mines in the...
I hunted with an archery bull tag last year in the Hazard LEA. If that's the area your hunting let me know. I couldn't make it happen last year but I would love to help you get it done! PM me with any questions. Ill do what I can!
