    Idaho Steelhead

Ironic that I just saw this thread, just returned from 2 days of fishing. Things are starting to happen fast now. Between myself and another friend we landed 13 fish which has been about average for us the last couple years. This year was slightly different in that we had to move around a lot...

    2015 Spring Black Bears

It's not going to be Booner. I haven't measured it but it's smaller than a couple of my larger ones. A B&C bear is extremely rare. They don't seem to have the genetics in MT for melons like Alaska or BC.

    2015 Spring Black Bears

I love bear hunting and getting out, but to be honest I have a heaping pile of tanned bear hides sitting at home. If I got one or not didn't really matter to me but my non-res friend was now thinking this bear hunting stuff is so easy that I should shoot one. Day 4 found us at one of my local...

    2015 Spring Black Bears

I had a Wisconsin friend fork out the money for a non-resident tag. I made absolutely sure he understood there was non guarantees on getting him one in six days. First 5 hours into the hunt he missed a black one due to "bear fever". I was secretly hoping that wasn't his only chance for the week...

    Senator Daines credibility crisis

I am replying simply because I want to add to the discussion that Daines should be held accountable and there are thousands of people that he disappointed. I Called all his offices a few weeks ago. Totally belligerent of him. I killed the bull in my profile picture because of public lands. To...

    Suppressors

Like I said it isn't much but a caliber specific can will increase MV slightly. I'm not claiming huge leaps or honestly anything that would increase real world performance but my rifle shoots 2675fps without the can and shoots 2,730fps with it on. Its not enough to matter out to 800 yds +/- 1/4...

    Suppressors

Google it man. Granted it's not a rifled barrel as stated above but machining is so tight these days that the baffles are literally a couple thousandths less than bullet diameter. So yes it does increase velocity, granted it's 1-6% more than the same length barrel but... While you say one...

    Suppressors

mtmuley- they increase velocity because they extend the barrel length of the rifle. Rule of thumb is for every 1" of barrel increase you gain 100fps. Granted that is a barrel not a supressor but the internal dimensions of a baffle are are a couple thousandths less than the said caliber. So a...

    Suppressors

It does not. I can shoot it on any smaller caliber, its just not as effective at noise suppression. I have a 30cal and a .22 caliber can that should be approved any day now. Those will cover pretty much everything I own. from .223-.308 and they are about half the weight and length of the .338...

    Suppressors

I live in Montana and have had one for a couple years now. Cant speak for everyone but here are a few quick answers. 1. The paper work is easy, just fill it out and forget about it until its approved ( I used Trust) 2. You gain velocity because essentially you make the barrel longer. I gained...

    How long did you hunt....

I guess maybe I had it a bit easier growing up out west, but in 2010 I was lucky enough to kill a bear, antelope, mule deer, and elk in Montana. That was every tag I had that year (also killed a few WT does). I haven't done it since I moved out of state and don't have the time available that is...

I was a taxidermist and boat dock builder. Now I am currently a Surgery resident.

I personally find it easier to age sheep looking at the inner circumference as shown. I simply count the "segments" as they seem more delineated on the inner rather than outer side. They last segment is always the 1/2 years worth of lamb tips.

    Ar-15 ??

I second all the others. I have a Rock River Arms Elite Operator 2. Its by far the most accurate AR I have ever shot ( and I've shot a lot) it holds 1/2MOA out to where it goes subsonic ( approx 870yds) I have it set up for shooting long range which in the case of a .223 is 0-900 yds. Past that...
