I get it but still question the value to the average person. 4x poverty level is around 86k for two people. Not a great deal of $$ and I might question whether people who can do that have enough in their Roth and/or other retirement accounts to last 30 ...or maybe 40 years, if retiring before...- Bonasababy

Saying one of its benefits is being easier to withdraw money BEFORE you retire is bad advice for most everyone who doesn't already have more money than they need for retirement socked away. Its ungodly expensive to buy insurance. Companies that offered it have dropped it due to losing their shirt. Its a bit of a gamble, but we handled it by making sure we could afford it in our 80s or 90s, and working up an estate plan that protects assets. Our planning is assuming we will not...- Bonasababy

I get it, but if someone only had a million, needed it to last 30 years, that much in equities is a lot of risk. I would expect most pro advisers to talk them down from that. Not sure all people are good at assessing their own risk tolerance unless they have been actively managing their own...- Bonasababy
