    Subsidizing isn't the solution, unless it's paying loggers to take material they do NOT want to take. Thats the fuel fir fires. The healthy trees they want to take are rarely a problem. Some exceptions where breaking up large acres of more flammable timber are desired for future fire fighting...

    Certainly more is needed, but if planned right the area burned provides places to use when wildfire breaks out that are more defensible. Gives fire fighters a better chance to gain control or limit damage.

    I believe AK is trying to reduce calf predation rates. There is research to suggest that at very low prey densities, some predators can prolong recovery of a population through calf predation. I also recall hearing climate change has played a role in declining habitat quality...these things...

    What some don't realize is that the articles findings are settled science. From before many on the board were born. Studies have shown the same thing for decades. And beyond that, predation isn't a single species thing...thats particularly true for coyotes, where reducing their population...
