New elk pack suggestions?
You don't seem to hear much about it lately but I used the Badlands Sacrifice on my last hunt and really liked it. It could use a few tweaks, but for a smaller fella where every ounce counts it was really light. Comfortable too. It came from ebay new. -

Tarptent vs freestanding tents
I'm only 5' 9" so length isn't usually a problem for me. I mainly want some room to keep my gear inside with me, and still have some room and be able to leave some boots or something under a vestibule. I keep leaning toward the tarptent setup but I have to do tons of research usually before I decide anything. I guess if I don't like it I can always resell it. Hunting magazines
I get Bugle, Extreme Elk, Elk Hunter, Western Hunter, both Eastmans, Bowhunter, Bowhunting World, and also Backpacker, and Outdoor Photographer. Seems like alot when you list them like that. If I could get out west more maybe I could cut down on the subscriptions.
