Got to the range today. I shot 2, 1 inch groups out the box. My buddy also shot a 1 inch group, however my other buddy could not stand the scope I had attached and shoot a little wider group (the scope did not sit far enough back for his eye relief and so he was shooting from a very awkward...

You're not wrong, but that extra $250 also would put me in the range I could find ok semi auto's too. I have frankly been shocked how much the price gap between bolt/lever guns and semis has shrunk while I have been shopping on this lol.

You looking for meat or a rack? Michigan always seems to have the big bucks, but central Minnesota will have farmers begging you to hunt in their field filling 3 antlerless tags.
Given the choice between the 2, definitely prefer wild birds. Although, my family always started the season going to a place that raised birds. It was more fun than shooting clays to get your aim back from the off season.
