My name is Joe McAleer, and I am hoping you can give me some direction on harvesting a Merriam. I am from and live in Mobile, AL, but will be out west for Labor Day. I plan on travelling from Jackson, WY to MT for 2 days Sept 1-3 to try and harvest a couple MErriams. I have hunted Easterns my whole life, and have done well, but I have always wanted to get a Merriam. If you could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't need a guide or a place to stay or anything, just a place to hunt or advice on where to look. I have buddies who go to Nebraska every yr and they knock on doors and get permission. I won't really have the time to try and find them, unless I get tipped off where to drive to find them. I was told Red Lodge has a lot of birds, as does the East and NW part of the state.
