Thanks for the info. I have had my own 300 H&H in an x-bolt since 2018 and also have used H 4350 in it. I was just trying to recreate my Dads load in his rifle because I knew it had been so effective. What kind of dye are you using for neck sizing?
I use either a primos tightwad (.660) or Trulock (.675) in both my 870 and 11-87. They both give a good even hunting pattern with 7&9 tss blend and are reasonably priced.
I’m trying to match my Dad’s favorite load from the early 1960s for use in his rifle that I inherited. His notes just say 67 grns of 4350 for the powder. What would be an equivalent in todays powder? IMR4350? H4350? or something else?
NC whitetail killed last night. Crab claw 8 pt. Came out into a winter wheat field right at dark. The closer he got the better he looked. Watched him chase 3 does and make a scrape.
Any of those will kill any deer in NC at 200 yds or less. I’ve killed a pile of NC deer with plain old hornady 130 grain bullets in a 270. Also recently been using accubonds. They work well also and have not damaged a lot of meat.
