    Wyoming Area 8

For areas 3 and 8 there are no such limitations on the Type 8. In areas 6 and 7, they specify "off national forest" for the Type 8. These tags aren't really a big deal. They're were always cow tags left in 6 and 7 and usually 8. There's a reason these tags were leftover so frequently!!

    Wyoming Area 8

Good luck! They could have given permission to the existing Type 6 holders years ago and didn't. I don't think they have any interest now with even more tag holders. But now any and all of their buddies can get an extra cow tag that doesn't count against their total tag numbers. This was never...

    WYGF March 18 updated proposals

Could you clarify what counts as access? I think they can allow very limited access (not advertised or public) and still count it. Am I wrong? I know I've called landowners listed on the G&F website as allowing access only to be told gruffly that they don't need any hunters. So did they...

Did USSR (Eastern Bloc) Produce Solid Steel Bullet Ammo?

I've done materials testing on the 7.64x54R. The round of interest had a mild steel core (not technically armor-piercing since the steel isn't hardened). Around the steel core is a lead filler. The jacket was steel with a thin copper coating. I shot quite a few rounds through a Mosin-Nagant in...

    Deer - lets see em

My youngest son's (10 yrs old) first big game animal! Killed this whitetail in Texas today. 70 yards. Double-lung with a 223 shooting 55 gr Barnes TSX. Saw no deer on the first day. This was the first and only deer we saw on the second day. Proud of his shooting and perseverance!

    Elk .... Let's see them!!!

First elk for both my boys (12 & 13). Belly crawled to top of a ridge with a herd of 200+ across the draw. Couldn't get any closer than 325 yards. When both boys had their crosshairs on the cow they wanted, I counted down 3, 2, 1, shoot. They shot simultaneously and dropped their cows 50 yards...

Need tripod to hold rifle for my son

Not sure why you need a tripod. I had to take my son out this year after he broke his arm playing football. Harris bipod on my 6.5 CM worked very well. Dropped a nice antelope at 250 yds with one shot shooting one-armed. I brought a bog pod with me, but since I was having to carry the rifle too...

    Youth hunting frustrations

Take them antelope hunting. Lots of action, high chance of success, manageable terrain, and (usually) good weather.
