Anyone know how montana fwp came up with shooting bears as long as we stay below 37 % sow harvest? I went past harvest stats for areas that I hunt thinking it would make sense, but not connecting the dots.
An argument as old as "what's the best caliber ". But for those inclined to shoot the neck it's a baseball size target vs basketball size target with a rifle. With a bow it's just irresponsible.

Montana bears always make me more nervous. The bears in Alaska seem more mellow. I read a letter from AK biologist who felt Treadwell wouldn't have lasted a day in Montana. Who knows.
