Wayne York is a top-notch gun smith. Slow as molasses but very very busy. I have one of his stocks on one of my Jarretts. I know he and his son are #1 fans but I’ve never put one of his stocks on a #1. Talked to folks who have or seen theirs shoot. He knows his way around #1s as well. P-ham is...
This was handy, my 300 HH upper left, Great wood :) 257 Roberts in Wyoming sept. 275 Rigby in Montana near Ennis. Nothing to show there:( That is all the gun porn I’ve got handy.
I’m not telling how many I have now. Next will probably be a 450/400 or a 416 Rigby. My first criteria is the wood. I’m pretty well set up to 375, could actually justify a 35 Whelen come to think of it. My favorite is my 275 Rigby, or perhaps the 300 HH but really the 375 is pretty nice.
I have, had, an old friend who also owned a 721 in 300 HH. That rifle was a death ray. Good luck with your efforts. Do you have any of his old ammo left over?
I have an RCBS neck sizing die.
I was shooting steel plate at 300 from field positions, just worrying about hitting the plate. Looked down and saw those numbers and pulled it right then and there. typically, when I check on the bench, it runs about 1/2 moa at 300 which is pretty good for a Ruger #1.
I am using H4350 in my 300HH with good results with Hornady interlock; Nosler Partition; Accubonds and Barnes ttsx all are running a little below book velocity regardless of my 26 inch barrel. All are getting sub MOA. I’m getting better accuracy 1/2 moa vs 3/4 moa and about 50fps with each load...
Contact Thompson Timber and Starker Forests, Both are based out of the Corvallis, Philomath area. I logged for both a long time ago, I'm betting they still have elk, I sure didn't kill them all.
We went two years ago. We have a meeting scheduled with our finance guy to structure our retirement savings for a trip in 2025. Looking back I could have started going to Africa 10 years before I retired. I regret not doing so.
Go before it’s too late.
Will it sure looks like you had a good...
You and me both. I went for a fitting over in Boise about a month ago. Started with the TRY gun set up like an off the shelf gun, for that right handed 5’10’’ 180 pound guy. I’m left handed. We were shooting on a sporting clays course. Started shooting about 70% with big pieces. As the fit was...
