It’s been this way since wolf trapping was made legal hasn’t it? It’s a significant time investment to be certified but it certainly isn’t unclear in the regulations that it’s required.
Meat on a shared trip should already be understood to be a shared reward if one is successful and the other is helping. Especially so if one person local expertise is essential to the visitor’s success.
@Preacher shaner, pay more than your fair share of fuel, travel expenses, offer an even...
Probably smart. Although, I’d say that your statement about Montana resident not caring about shooting a mule deer every 3-5 years is out of touch with the average MT resident hunter.
Two well thought out proposals with backers of each being presented to the commission for acceptance would be awesome! That would definitely help make the point that MT hunters want change, not withstanding FWP’s interpretation of the mule deer survey.
You’re forgetting this is a bathroom remodel. That 8-10k in the rifle budget will be eaten up by cost overruns. You’ll be lucky to score a brick of shotgun ammo with a bathroom remodel.

The survey referenced was a FWP commissioned survey that was sent to 5000 hunters and the results were publicized by FWP and interpreted by FWP.

Speaking personally, I would like to see a week longer archery season and a three week October rifle season instead of the four weeks we are proposing. If there was enough public buy in of the idea that it wouldn’t torpedo the entire proposal I would be in favor of it.
On the social side of...
(Sorry. I screwed up the formatting when I tried to quote @Shed God. My previous reply is easier to read below)
Our proposal does not affect the season dates of any units designated LE that requires a permit to hunt for that specie that requires a permit.
Let’s pick hypothetical unit 123 for...
So, unlimited permits that are going to eventually move to LE state wide?
It would help biologically. It’s not going to be acceptable to the general public, socially.
Ironically, this very thing would be possible to happen under the framework of our proposal since all current LE unit...
Respectfully, if you’re curious about theology and faith, looking for answers from folks who are skeptics rather than proponents is going to trend toward a skewed conclusion.
That is a good episode that you linked to in the OP.
We all know you only started applying after Greenhorn posted up a ready made goat hunt plan for everyone…😏
I’m looking forward to seeing what you find.
I agree about the intelligence of a 2 1/2 year old bull.
I think we hunt some of the same general areas. My experience has been that raghorns are still with the cows the last week of October. The mature bulls have already drifted away to their post rut areas and are generally in the higher...
Serious question. Do you think that the amount of raghorn bull elk that get killed first week of the season because they are still with the cows will stay the same or be less if elk opener is bumped back to the first week of November?
