Protection in bear country
The first two DLP shootings were initiated with a 12ga, first one was 00 buck followed by slugs, at tent door distance; second was high base #6 shot at about 10feet followed by a couple of 180s out of an 06. In both cases the shot did not kill the bear but it certainly took him out of the fight...- Salmonchaser

Wall tent vs tipi tent
Just skimmed through the responses, you mentioned the heavy stoves- what about replacing with one of the ultra packable type. Sell your old tent to some young up and comer and replace with a Montana Canvas, I think it’s called Realite. We have a 12x16 that only weighs about 30 pounds.- Salmonchaser

Two rifles, One Caliber?
My brother fills his tags almost every year. Good hunter, good shot, incredible condition and I think he’s taken one or two elk at over 300 yards. My reloads in his rifle shoot about 1 1/2 groups.
