Extension cord problems??

Wondering if you can help me out. My current set up consists of an old boom box and speaker for my caller. My question is this should I use more than the 300' extension cord that I hook up to my little 1000 watt generator? Should I go for 600' or 900'? Of course I don't want to get to far away from my four wheeler. What should I do? Also I have never gotten a shot at a coyote yet. What am I doing wrong? I think I need to switch tapes to that woodpecker thing everyone is talking about because I spend all day out there and even though I see scat and tracks I can't call one in. HELP PLEASE!
