    What to do

Yes I am scheduled with a new outfitter. They came highly recommended. I leave in 2 weeks, still an archery hunt. I'll keep everyone posted, even though this is not really a "guided" site. Like I had said before, one good thing to come of this, I have spoken with some very good people in...

    What to do

Well it has been a crazy 24 hrs. Luckily there are some pretty good folks in Montana. Montana has been a state that I have wanted to hunt for some time, and today everyone from all of the outfitters to the people at FWP were absolutely top notch. The morning started kind of still shocked at...

    What to do

He's a legitimate operation as I spoke with another hunter who has hunted with him. It is a small operation, which I thought would be nice. I should have a lot more answers today. I did not find any of this out until about 8:30 last night. Assuming I cannot hunt with my tag without an...

    What to do

The tag is not a land owner tag. I am talking to another outfitter, very slim odds of him fitting me in. He believes my tag is not valid without an outfitter, which is probably true but I will call regardless. He also gave me a couple of places to call to report this to. Talk about a kick in...

    What to do

They're supposedly refunding the money. Until I have the cash back I do not have a lot of faith unfortunately. I have a few phone calls to make tomorrow. The outfitter purchased my tag, not sure if I can hunt without an outfitter with this tag. Luckily if I can go DIY, as I stated above that...

    What to do

Hey everyone, Had some seriously bad news come in tonight. I normally go out DIY hunting like pretty much everyone on this forum, but this year I decided to try a guided elk hunt. Yes it's expensive, I think we all know that but it's something I've wanted to try. I started the process of this...

Wyoming Elk with my Old Man

I've gone with my dad a couple times in the last few years. He's been 55-60, by no means a senior citizen. Sometimes I've caught both of us getting too caught up in the "success" in filling tags. To me that is not the important part. My advice, for whatever it's worth, would be to enjoy the trip...

Hunting pack for a growing youth hunter

The new pop ups by mystery ranch are awesome. I also strongly recommend that with all of the room for adjustments.

    Boots for September elk hunting

I personally use the Crispi Idaho 2. It's a nice mix between a hunting and hiking boot. I haven't regretted it yet

    Bucket list.....

There are many species on my bucket list that I am actively checking off. Another thing for me however is places to hunt. I think that it is so awesome going new places and trying new things. So while I'm filling my list of critters, I am also keeping a second list of places that I've hunted/fished.

    E-Scouting Clear Cuts

Thanks for all of the input everyone! I'm trying to come up with a tentative plan, but that usually goes out the window in the first 24-48 hours of the hunt haha! Going to be fun regardless. I guess I didn't mention we're going in September to archery hunt the rut. We'll see what happens!

    E-Scouting Clear Cuts

Hey everyone, Hope everyone's summer is going well. Hunting season is right around the corner and we've got a Idaho hunt planned. I suppose the main target is elk, but we've also got bear and mountain lion tags as well. Me personally, I'd be thrilled to get a bear as I've been trying for a...

    IIIIIIIMMMMMMM BACK

Glad everyone is safe. With so many mishaps, maybe it's time to really think about practicing some hunter safety and basic woodsman skills? I'm not trying to sound mean or anything so I apologize if this does, but besides yourselves, there are a lot of other hunters, hikers, and other folks out...

    Hunting/Hiking boots

Can't even respond there lol. Totally out of our cornfield element there haha. I guess this thread wasn't meant to be which boot brand and model do I need as a functionality thing. I didn't want to go and say, damn this really is not working for me after I spent $400 on a pair of boots.

    Hunting/Hiking boots

That makes sense. I was just a little caught off guard I guess by the salesman's comments. I'm definitely not trying to roll an ankle or anything, but it'll probably be fine any way.

    Hunting/Hiking boots

Hey everyone, I am currently looking at getting a new pair of boots. I mainly hunt whitetails in the midwest. We do hike, so I will be using these boots for that as well. I've tried on Crispi Colorado's and they felt great. Speaking to a salesman, he kind of pushed me towards the Crispi west...

    Garmin Xero A1

Hey everyone, Hope everyone is having a good winter. Getting ready to get cold here in Iowa. So I was wondering if anyone has used the Garmin Xero A1? If so, what are your thoughts? Myself and my Dad will be going on a elk hunt in September. We've both got range finders, but like with deer...
